The diocesan level YSM day was held on 18th Jan 2014 at St. Joseph College Bidar. The theme as decided was “Education in Modern World”.
The day began with the inauguration conducted by St. Joseph English Medium School, Bidar. They put up a prayer dance and Fr. Victor Vas the YSM director welcomed all the dignitaries with a bookie of flower. The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Rev. Fr. CharlsMenezes the National YCS/YSM Director. He spoke about the important of YSM in Students life. Miss. Maria the NEXCO member encouraged the students with her encouraging words.
In the morning various competitions were conducted to the students. The quiz and speech competitions were conducted simultaneously. The quiz was conducted by Dn. Vincent. English and the Kannada Speech competitions were conducted in separate places. In the singing and dance competitions 10 schools participated and there was a tough fight between the students to get first prize. Dn. David conducted the singing and dance competition.
In the afternoon we had concluding ceremony. V. Rev. Msgr. Stany Lobo the Vicar General of Gulbarga Diocese was the chief guest for the programme. He said education is very important in one’s life and each student should have a goal in their lives. Miss.Frivita the Regional YCS/YSM president was present and she said that the YSM will help a person to bring leadership quality in their life. Fr. CharlsMInizes and V. Rev. Msgr. Stany Lobo distributed the prizes to the winner. Fr. Victor Vas the diocesan YSM director, Mr. Sagar and Miss Sweetha the diocesan YSM president and secretory were present on the stage.
After the lunch all the YSM students took a rally to D.C office Bidardemanding quality education in the Northern part of Karnataka. We started the rally from Basaveshwara circle and ended in front of D.C office. The student read out the demands of the students and Mr. Sagar and Miss Sweetha the diocesan YSM president and secretorysubmitted a memorandum to the education minister through D. C on behalf of all the students. With the absence of D.C the memorandum was received by the officer and promised to fulfill all the demand.
The whole event was well participated and all felt a sense of satisfaction and learning. At total of 548 YSMers participated in the event from 12 schools of Bijapur, Gulbarga, and Bidar Dt. They are St. Joseph’s Eng. Med. High School, DivyaJyothi High SchoolBhalki, St. Joseph’s Kan. Med. High School Bidar, Premanjali High SchoolUjini, St. Mary’s High School Gulbarga Kotnoor, St. Joseph’s Girls High School Gulbarga, To Bethany High SchoolChittapur, St. Mary High School Gulbarga, Loyola Yomiuri High School Bijapur, SnehaSangama High School Bijapur, GnanaPriya High SchoolBasavakalyana, St. Ambrose Convent High School Wadi. About 45 animators were present from all the 12 schools.
