Young Catholic Students (YCS) Udupi Deanery organized a successful Beginners Camp at Mother of Sorrows Church Hall, Udupi on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

The day commenced with a Holy Eucharist celebrated by Rev. Fr Steevan Fernandes – the diocesan YCS YSM Chaplain. Following the mass, Neal Quadros, YCS Deanery Vice President, extended a warm welcome to the participants. Rev. Fr Vijay D’Souza – the principal of St Mary’s English medium school delivered an inspiring address, followed by a brief message from Fr. Charles Menezes – former IYCS Chaplain & Parish priest of Udupi.
Mr Joshua Fernandes, YCS President of Udupi Diocese, led an engaging ice-breaking session, encouraging 120 first-year PUC students. Rev. Fr Stevan Fernandes then provided valuable insights into the YCS movement’s vision, aims, and objectives. Sweedal Mendonca and Harshit Fernandes further enriched the camp with sessions on the YCS structure, rules, cell life, and methodology.

YCS Udupi Deanery expressed sincere gratitude to Fr. Steevan Fernandes for his guidance and support, and to Fr. Charles Menezes, Parish Priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Fr. Vijay D’Souza, Principal of St. Mary’s English Medium School Udupi, and Fr. Rajesh Pasanna, Deanery Director of Udupi Deanery, for their invaluable contributions.

The camp concluded on a high note with the YCS Anthem and claps.
