6th April, 2018: YCS Udupi diocese organized a village exposure programme for the YCS/YSM students from 2 – 5 April 2018 at Ajekar, Karkala Deanery. About a hundred youth along with animators took part in the programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Most Rev Bishop Jerald Isac Lobo, the Bishop of Udupi in the presence of Fr Sunil D’Silva (The Parsih Priest of Ajekar Parish Priest) Mr Dinesh Kumar (Marne Gram Panchayath – President) and others. The students went in procession to the camp site from Ajekar Parish. The village people welcomed the students with enthusiasm.
The students worked in the village with the villages and cleaned the public places. They oranised a cleanliness campaign in collaboration with Lions Club at Ajekar Town. They visited small scale industries( Cashew, Rubber), agriculturists etc in the village as well. Folk songs and other folk culture was taught to the participants. Study sessions on various topics were dealt by competent recourse person.Fr Anil Dsa the Regional chaplain for YCS was present for the camp on last two days. He facilitated the a sessionon environment through collage preparation.
The programme came to an end on 5th April through an elaborated evaluation and reflection programme. All the village leaders along with the parish priests were thanked by the students for their support and help. The villagers from their end thanked Fr Edwin Dsouza (Diocesan Youth Director) for having given an opportunity to serve the students.
The DTS (diocesan Team of Students) along with the chaplain had planned the programme meticulously and executed in excellently.
