Belthangady Deanery Young Catholic Students (YCS) has unveiled “Career Compass,” a groundbreaking career guidance book, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative within the Mangalore Diocese. This comprehensive resource aims to empower young individuals in making informed career choices and navigating the complexities of today’s competitive job market.
Inspired by the guiding principle, “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed” (Proverbs 16:3), the “Career Compass” was conceived under the visionary leadership of Fr. Anil Avild Lobo, YCS Deanery Director and Chief Editor. His dedication, coupled with the collaborative efforts of Mr. Santhosh Marcel Dsouza, YCS Deanery Animator, and Mr. James, Animator of Belthangady, has brought this essential tool to fruition.
The book addresses the critical need for expanded career awareness among Gen Z youth, who often find themselves confined to traditional career paths due to societal pressures. Featuring expert-authored articles, “Career Compass” illuminates a wide array of contemporary career opportunities, encouraging young people to explore and pursue paths aligned with their individual aspirations.
The official launch of “Career Compass” took place at St. Francis Xavier Church Indabettu on March 30th. The event was presided over by Fr. Walter Dmello, Vicar Forane of Belthangady Deanery, who released the book. Dignitaries present included:
* Fr. Praveen Dsouza, Deanery ICYM Director
* Fr. Stany Montheiro, Parish Priest of Indabettu

* Mr. Santhosh Dsouza, Deanery Animator
* Mr. James, Animator of Belthangady
* Vivan, Deanery President

The launch event was attended by numerous youths from the Belthangady Deanery, underscoring the community’s support for this vital initiative.
“This book is a testament to our commitment to empowering the youth of our deanery,” stated Fr. Anil Avild Lobo. “We believe ‘Career Compass’ will serve as a valuable guide, helping young people unlock their potential and build fulfilling careers.”
The Belthangady Deanery YCS is confident that “Career Compass” will make a significant impact on the lives of young people, providing them with the knowledge and confidence to pursue their dreams.
