YOUNG STUDENTS MOVEMENT….. What is it????? I was completely ignorant about it. But, it was only in mid August 2003 that Fr. Anthony Pinto SFX – the Bathinda Area (Simla Chandigarh Diocese) YSM Coordinator made a short visit to our class and briefed us on the YOUNG STUDENTS MOVEMENT (YSM). Prior to this, we did not know anything about YSM. In his introductory session, he told us about the history of the YSM, its objectives, spirituality, methodology, etc.
During the days to come, many sessions were conducted for us so as to know more about YSM. After getting to know the YSM, we were asked if we would like to volunteer to be the member of the YSM and many of us happily volunteered. Then, we were divided into cells. And on 1st November 2003, a new chapter was added to St. Xavier’s School – Sirsa. On this day, St. Xavier’s YSM UNIT – Sirsa was inaugurated. The inaugural session began with the lighting of the lamp by Rev. Fr. Eulalio Fernandes SFX, Miss.Marushca, Mrs. Sanjyot and Mr. Ajaib. This was followed by input sessions and a few games conducted by the Unit members (Ms. Sanam, Ms. Kriti, and Ms. Meenakshi) who had been to the National Training Program at Chandigarh from 1st to 5th October 2003.
St. Xavier’s Sirsa – Unit is slowly coming up. We meet in the cell and also get involved with the exposure program.
I really thank Fr.Albert Fernandes SFX – our principal for allowing to introduce the YSM in our school. Our appreciation also goes to Fr.Anthony Pinto SFX the brain behind the YSM in our school. A word of appreciation also to our Teachers Incharge – Mrs. Sanjyot and Mr. Ajaib. With the able guidance of our elders, we will try to mould ourselves and do something for the welfare of our family, school, neighborhood and the society. I am really lucky to be the member of this Movement and will surely try to motivate others to be the member of this movement.
