In future what I’ll be I never thought;
When I was 10, everybody said,
May be Engineer or Doctor;
I repeated the same, without thinking,
How much labour is required
To get the same.
Slowly when I understood
The necessity to have aim,
By that time I was 13
Where money could I gain?
So I took engineer, as my future aim.
As the clock ticked,
Studies became tough.
My percentage decreased,
And I saw the world
Plagued with disease,
Poverty and pain.
With no one to listen, they cried in vain.
My spirit said, “Help them!”
Therefore be a social worker
Which Is also a good career.
However, on my decision
I couldn’t stand long.
For after crossing 16
Life becomes glamorous
Especially for teens.
How about a degree in MBA?
Or a civil servant?
Wishing for easy life,
In my dreams I got lost.
My relation with studies broke;
And so my dreams shattered.
Neither an engineer,
Nor a degree holder I became.
For today as a petty clerk
For my hungry stomach, I work.
Only if I had, had a clear view,
Of what I will be in future,
I would’ve enjoyed my life
Even if I had earned a few.
